Established in 1832 by pioneer settler Gideon B. Hart, the Town of Hartsville is a historic community nestled in the heart of Bartholomew County, Indiana. Once a bustling center of education and commerce, the town was the original home of Hartsville College—a pioneering coeducational institution founded in 1850 where Milton Wright, father of the Wright brothers, once served as a professor.

Today, Hartsville remains a quiet and welcoming residential community of approximately 320 residents. Known for its small-town charm and proximity to the scenic Anderson Falls, our town prides itself on preserving its rich heritage while looking forward to a bright future for the families and individuals who call Hartsville home.
